Clean out any loose food debris and reconnect any wires that may have come loose.

When a burner won t get hot the first thing to check is the burner itself.
The next thing you want to do is find the name plate on the stove.
A glitch in the electronics or control pad may prevent the oven from receiving the message to turn off the burner.
The first thing that i would suggest is that you turn off the stove at the circuit breaker.
If the stove is plugged in to an outlet and not hardwired you can then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
Do not use your stove with the knobs removed as it may allow moisture to damage the electronics.
A failure within the electronics of the control board can create any number of problems including the inability to turn off the oven.
With the heat control set to an intermediate value the burner will kick on and off repeatedly to maintain a goal temperature.
Don t work on the stove with the unit plugged in or the circuit breaker on.
You disconnect a burner by pulling it out.
If a control board problem is responsible for preventing the shutdown of the oven the most likely cause is a relay within the board that has shorted in the closed position.
Electronic or control pad error.
Each burner has a high limit thermostat but that s not the problem this thermostat is a normally closed switch and if it opened the burner would not come on at all which is not your problem.
Turn the appliance off and unplug it if you can then remove the grate and burner cap.
Turn that off for the burner in question to see if that makes it heat more.
If this works the knob will need to be replaced.
With the burner set to high normally they stay on almost all the time heating the pot on top of it to boil water.
There is no in between.
It could have a disconnection somewhere inside it or may simply be burned out.
If that doesn t solve it you will likely need a new igniter or some work on your gas connection.
If this is the situation the control switch will need to be completely replaced as soon as possible.
